Film Depicts College Life on the Border

EL PASO — Having to wake up every morning to get ready for school and get to class is something most American college students do not think twice about. But for Mexican students who live across the U.S./Mexico border, this simple task can become a challenging chore, which transports them into a more complex Americanized version of their own culture.
Award winning director Maru Buendía-Senties wrote and directed a 29-minute short film based on how students tend to compare their situations and cultures to one another when they come from opposites sides of the border and attend the same university. “Entre Líneas” was filmed on the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) campus and on the El Paso/Ciudad Juárez border. Film Muestra Vida Universitaria en la Frontera

EL PASO — El tener que levantarse cada mañana y alistarse para ir a la escuela es algo que la mayoría de los estudiantes universitaros Americanos no lo ven como una tarea pesada. Sin embargo, para varios estudiantes universitarios Mexicanos que viven del lado Mexicano de la frontera México-Americana, el llegar a sus clases se convierte en un reto que los transporta a una versión Americanizada de su propia cultura.
La galardonada directora, Maru Buendia Senties, escribió y dirigió un mediometraje de 29min basado en las comparaciones que tienden a hacer los jóvenes que asisten a una misma universidad sobre su cultura, experiencias, y situaciones que cada uno de ellos vive en diferentes lados de la frontera. “Entre Líneas” fue filmada en el campus universitario de la Universidad de Texas en El Paso y en las ciudades fronterizas de Ciudad Juárez/ El Paso. 6th International Women’s Showcase in Film and Television.
“October 2nd to 11th in Morelia, Mexico and from December 2nd to 5th in the Cinetaca Nacional in Mexico City”
This showcase has the objective of collecting and screening the best work of women, Mexican and foreign that reside in Mexico City, in the area of short, feature, fiction, documentary, and animation in film, as well as in television.
Entre Líneas will screen December 5th at 630pm at Theater 5 in The Cineteca Nacional.

“Del 2 al 11 de octubre en Morelia y del 2 al 5 de diciembre en la Cineteca Nacional”
Esta muestra tiene por objeto reunir y exhibir los trabajos más representativos de las diferentes creadoras audiovisuales, mexicanas y extranjeras residentes en México, en las categorías de cortometraje, mediometraje, largometraje, ficción, documental y animación, en cine, video y televisión, así como videoarte.
Entre Líneas sera exhibida el 5 de Diciembre a las 630pm en la sala 5 de la Cineteca Nacional.

Celebrating Latina Voices and Cinematic Visions
BHLIFE is a festival that features the creative work of Latina film directors from all across the country. An event dediated to the ongoing effort to present the complexities of our community and the women withn it, and break away from the historically negative and stereotypical images in film. A festival such as BHLIFE creates a challenge to the inequity seen in front and behind the lens.
Entre Líneas will be screened in the Shorts Program December 12th 6pm to 830pm and December 13th 530pm to 730pm at CASA 0101 Theater 2009 East 1st St., Los Angeles, CA

BHLIFE es un festival que se enfoca en el trabajo creativo de directoras Latinas en los Estados Unidos. Es un evento que gracias a sus esfuerzos continuos se dedica a presentar las complejidades de la comunidad Latina y las mujeres que viven en ella, alejándose de las imágenes negativas y estereotípicas de Latinas en el cine. Un festival al como el BHLIFE crea un reto para la inequidad vista enfrente y detrás del lente cinematográfico.

Entre Líneas screened at The Border Philanthropy ConferenceEntre Líneas exhibida en Conferencia de Filantropía Fronteriza
The Border Philanthropy Conference was a project of several non-profit organizations and funders . The Border Philantrophy deals with issues along both sides the U.S. / Mexico border. The Conference was held Oct. 20 and 21 in El Paso. Entre Líneas and another film, Red Mesa, were screened for about 120 people in the Plaza Theatre’s Philanthropy Annex.
La Conferencia de Filantropía Fronteriza es un proyecto formado por varias organizaciones no lucrativas y financiadores, la cual se enfoca en cuestiones fronterizas a lo largo de ambos lados de los EE.UU. y México. La conferencia se llevo acabo Octubre 20 y 21 en El Paso, TX.Las películas Entre Líneas y Red Mesa, fueron exhibidos frente a 120 personas en el Plaza Theatre’s Philanthropy Annex.

Entre Líneas @ 1st International Film Festival of ChihuahuaEntre Líneas en 1er Festival Internacional de Cine de Chihuahua
Entre Líneas will be part of the 1st International Film Festival of Chihuahua. Carlos Borruel, Mayor of Chihuahua, said this festival will position the city of Chihuahua as a rich cultural entity, making it the platform to showcase the creative and interpretive talent of Chihuahua at international level.
Con la presencia de la actriz chihuahuense Gabriela Roel y en el marco de la celebración del Tricentenario de la Ciudad de Chihuahua, la Presidencia Municipal a través del Comité Organizador designado por el alcalde Carlos Borruel, presentó oficialmente el Primer Festival Internacional de Cine de la Ciudad de Chihuahua que se llevará a cabo del 20 al 23 de agosto en esta localidad.
En un gran evento que reunió a los medios de comunicación, artistas y creadores, representantes de cámaras empresariales y funcionarios públicos de todos los niveles de gobierno, el presidente Municipal, Carlos Borruel, señaló que el Primer Festival de Cine de la Ciudad posicionará a Chihuahua como una entidad rica en cultura y será una plataforma para exhibir el talento creador e interpretativo chihuahuense en el ámbito internacional.

From documentary to drama to experimental self-portraiture, these talented directors are using the expanse of film to tell stories that span the globe as well as the bicultural, binational environment in which they live and work. This showcase includes short films by Maru Buendia-Senties, Cristina Castaneda, Diana Cordova, Cassi Landrus, Ilana Lapid and Maribel Santoyo.

Entre Líneas part of Digital Showcase of Lima’s Film FestivalEntre Líneas formara parte de la Muestra Digital del Festival de Cine en Lima
Entre Líneas has been selected to form part of the 13th Latin- American Film Showcase in Lima in their Digital Showcase – Young Image. The film will be screened Thursday 13th at 730pm at the Noth American Peruvian Cultural Institute and at 430pm at the ADUNI Cultural Center in Lima.
Entre Líneas ha sido seleccionada para formar parte del 13 Encuentro Latinoamericano de Cine en Lima en la sección de Muestra Digital – Imágen Joven. La película sera exhibida el Jueves 13 a las 7:30 pm en el Instituto Cultural Peruano Norteamericano y a las 4:30 p.m en el Centro Cultural ADUNI en Lima.
