While women are still startlingly underrepresented in the film industry at large, there’s a strong body of female filmmakers working hard in the border region. From documentary to drama to experimental self-portraiture, these talented directors are using the expanse of film to tell stories that span the globe as well as the bicultural, binational environment in which they live and work. This showcase includes short films by Maru Buendia-Senties, Cristina Castaneda, Diana Cordova, Cassi Landrus, Ilana Lapid and Maribel Santoyo.
